Outdoor Cap has been servicing the needs of the headwear industry for 40 years. Established in 1977, we have established ourselves as one of the largest and most respected headwear suppliers in the United States by combining work ethic and integrity with innovative resources and processes. We service 14,000 customers across multiple channels in the Team, Promotional Products, Hunting/Fishing, and Retail markets. Outdoor Cap also has been feverishly developing direct to consumer business that currently focuses on the headband market. Spawning from the CrossFit arena and now a popular consumer brand, is an exciting component of Outdoor Cap where eCommerce is its primary channel of business.

To be successful as a Product Design Intern, you should demonstrate the ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment, possess excellent communication skills, have an aptitude for learning, and maintain great attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• We have 3 Major Summer Projects. These will be divided responsibilities between our two internship positions.
  1. Project 1: Pantone color match the fabrics we have available in overseas factories to provide accurate resources for PD and Design to use in representing in our virtual CADs.
     • Create swatches for design team from this information. If we know the intended factory, Design can use swatches that show accurate color representations of the final product.
  2. Project 2: ISACORD match the stock caps for domestic (can pull info from project 1) so teams in Promo have the tonal options for the caps.
  3. Project 3: We are rebuilding our Design Templates. This requires detailed attention to detail in setting up assets in the layers panels.
• Help with the work volume on the promo design side during busy season. Can help set up domestic artwork for design team.
• Help create design presentations on pre-plan developments.
• Complete one design project to further advance design skills.

Education and Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or in current pursuit of a Design degree is preferred.
• Technical abilities in Adobe CC and Mac OSX
• Proficient level technical abilities in Microsoft Office

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and move about the office.
• Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks, and expansive analysis and reading.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds infrequently.
• Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)
